“Jacqui Robertson-Wade’s Viol Player series is the fruit of years of thoughtful teaching of young musicians in her flourishing community music programs in Warwickshire. It offers a wealth of valuable materials to aid teacher and student in finding accomplishment and joy in the process of learning to play the viol. The books are lavishly produced, with glossy four-color printing on the covers and abundant black and white illustrations for both instruction and amusement. The authors’ sense of humour, joy and enthusiasm for the project is evident on very page. These are valuable books, and ones that I expect to use in my own teaching that I would gladly recommend to others.”

Happy Customer from The USA –
My husband and I have used the viol series for a couple of years and like them very much. The pieces are nice because they aren’t just the “Mary Had a Little Lamb” kindergarten type stuff, but instead have some sophistication and relevancy to the general type of music the viol plays. The humorous drawings, bits of “perky” advice, and also the serious drawings of hand positions, etc are very clear and helpful. Also, the tidbits about the history of the instrument are lovely. The accompanying cds are helpful in ascertaining if one really is playing evenly and in a good tempo, and also for the fun of having an accompaniment, which is delightful. The printing of the book is clear and large enough to read with ease. Overall I think these books are A plus – very helpful and fun to use.
